I'm Janice. I edit the Planter Happiness journal — the buyer's guides and trade notes we publish for importers, distributors and garden centers who buy ceramic planters and garden decor by the container.
My desk sits on the studio side of this business. Planter Happiness designs its ranges in Arizona and manufactures with partner factories in China and Vietnam, and I work from the middle of that: the drawings and glaze samples crossing my screen, the kiln and packing schedules behind each program, and the questions buyers ask us before they commit to a container. When I write about MOQs, sampling timelines or landed cost, I'm writing up what our own production work teaches us — with the math shown, not hidden.
What I cover: how to develop custom planters with a manufacturer, how container programs are built for distribution, private label and OEM ranges, sourcing differences between China and Vietnam, and the trends garden centers are planning around. If a guide on this site has my name on it, I've edited it against our studio's current practice — and where the honest answer is "it depends," I'll tell you what it depends on.
